The artist also reveals an unexpected sexual side as songs such as the slinky Turn Me On see Blunt get a little down and dirty with a hint of disco as he reveals an itch in need of scratching. The studio was just a short motorbike ride from home." "Again, it was important for this album to be able to hang out with my mates, come to the studio, write a song and record it. I've made my bed and I'll lie in it."īlunt and Robson wrote many of the album's songs together and also did some writing with OneRepublic's Ryan Tedder, as on Stay the Night.Īfter making his first two albums in Los Angeles, he said it was nice to work in a London studio and be so close to home. It's about saying in life I might have done things wrong and, even though I have regrets, I don't feel sorry. "Some of the other songs will be more fun to play live but, as a songwriter, I'm really excited about this song. For the writer, it's not only a bridge to the previous albums but also a song that he's most proud to have written. No Tears is one of the album's slower songs and reminiscent of the Blunt we know. These are the songs I've always wanted to write and listen to." It was really pleasurable and fun to make this album. We connected on a musical level and he really freed me up.
"We formed a very unique partnership, literally on that first day. Then, through a mutual friend, he met producer Steve Robson, who eventually produced most of Some Kind of Trouble. Firstly, he came home to London, reconnected with his friends and got away from the business of being famous. The former British military officer credits these rays of sunshine to a number of things. "I've closed the door on those melancholy songs a bit, hanging up my serious for a while." “And instead this time round, rather than thinking about what you guys might want to hear, I wrote songs about what I needed to say."I'm really excited," Blunt says of an album which captures a newfound sense of freedom in its pop grooves.
“I wrote my last couple of albums with an audience in mind,” he adds. “We recorded it without a record label in mind, without a music chart in mind, and without too much of an audience in mind we recorded Moon Landing. “ Tom and I locked ourselves away in a studio in Los Angeles and recorded what I supposed we did with the first album which was an indie album before You’re Beautiful took it on a dirty journey into the mainstream,” he explains. In addition to working with Ryan, James demoed the majority of the album with producer Martin Terefe ( James Morrison / KT Tunstall) - “It was an amazing experience recording songs live, perhaps in one take, with a band all facing each other and getting a real performance out of it,” he says – before reuniting with the man who produced his breakthrough album, Back To Bedlam - Tom Rothrock. “I jumped on the OneRepublic tour bus and was like a groupie to them,” explains James. However, James has revealed that he had to go to extraordinary lengths to secure the services of the Beyonce and Leona Lewis hit-maker. Co-written by OneRepublic frontman Ryan Tedder, Bonfire Heart became James’ first Top 10 hit in nearly six years when it debuted at Number 6 two weeks ago. More recently though, James has been riding high in the Official Singles Chart with the first track to be released from Moon Landing – Bonfire Heart. His 2004 debut, Back To Bedlam, is the UK’s 16th biggest selling album of all time, with a sales tally of more then 3.27 million copies.
